Hannah is 3 Months Old! (Feb2011)

Hannah didn’t have a regular pediatric appointment for her third month, but we ended up at the doctor for a sick visit on the day she turned 3 months…she was 12 lbs 10 oz.

She had taken a bath right before this pictures, so her hair is very fuzzy :-)

Hannah is 2 Months Old! (Jan2011)

At two months, Hannah is still a laid back baby and sleeps pretty well. She doesnt mind being on her tummy for short periods, especially if it’s on the mini-boppy pillow. The big “excitement” is that at her last pediatrician appointment the doctor her a heart murmur, so we had an Echocardiogram done to make sure everything is okay. Thankfully it is! She has a small hole, which is common and does not seem to be of any concern, and also something called Mild Pulmonary Valve Stenosis, which means the valve from the right ventricle into the pulmonary artery is obstructed or thickened. It’s something we’ll get checked annually, but both Cardiologists we met with assured us that it will not impact anything that Hannah wants to do as she grows up, and it’s possible it will get better or even go away. The biggest indication that she’s just fine is that she’s eating well and gaining weight well, and is overall a very content and happy little baby.

At her two month appointment, Hannah was 11 lbs 6 oz and 22 3/4 inches in length.

Here are her two month photos.

Hannah is One Month Old! (Dec2010)

Not much to report on Hannah other than at one month she was sleeping well and seemed to be a pretty content and “easy” baby. Oh, and she has crazy hair and a lot of it!

At her one month appointment, Hannah was 9 lbs 13.4 oz and 21 1/2 inches in length.

One Year Stats

23 lbs
29.25 inches

Nathan is still in the 50th percentile for height and weight. He was much more wary of the doctor at his check-up this time, probably because he’s much more aware of what’s going on now, but he did well with the exam. He was not as happy about the two shots he got, one of which is the MMR vaccine that I’ve heard is pretty painful. Poor guy. A few minutes of comfort, walking around the room, and a pacifier, and he was doing okay again. We got the go-ahead to feed him just about anything, with a few exceptions like honey and certain fish.

“I think I used to be smaller than this thing.”

“Yup, I was.”

But he was definitely bigger than the bear by six months

“No way Im gonna leave that sign up there so you can see how old I really am!”

Not into stealing the sign at one month

But by six months he was learning…

Who’s One?

Nathan!! Wow. Where’s the last year gone??

We celebrated Nathan’s birthday Monday night with cake, presents and Oma. This weekend my family comes in to town and we’re having a party (with more cake and presents! Yay!)

Loved his new tunnel and first Tonka Truck

Mmmmm…
chocolate cake

Chocolate Cake sure makes a boy thristy!

And a little dirty….

It’s a little unbelievable to me that we have a one year old. I miss the little baby from a year ago, but I wouldn’t trade this age for anything. Everyday is a new challenge, such as the current fun of how to get him to eat fruits and vegetables. But, all the babbling and sharing and laughing is wonderful. And every time he does something new (like stand unsupported, or take a few steps without help), and Gary and I look at each other in amazement, like “did he just do what we think he did??”, it’s such a great feeling! Noticing how he’s starting to understand and respond to us when we say things to him is really neat too.

Happy First Birthday Nathan!

11 Months

That poor little tooth in Nathan’s mouth was getting lonely, but luckily it was joined by three more teeth this weekend! We noticed a second bottom tooth had come through on Friday, and on Saturday Gary noticed both top teeth poking through.

Here’s a pretty good picture of that first tooth, the others aren’t in enough to see yet.

Monthly pictures continue to be more and more challenging. We got a few good ones, but the days of propping Nathan in the glider next to the bear and just taking lots of smiley shots are loooooong over! Im sure Ive said it before, but its very hard to believe that we are so close to having a one year old. Where did the last year go? It seems like just last week we were bringing him home. But enough of that, I’ll save the reminiscing for next month ;-)

He’s got quite the head of hair, eh?

I’m going to take that sign now.

Got it!

Would you like to play with my duck? He makes lots of fun noises!

10 Months

Nathan’s doing better and better at crawling, and he’s now venturing out of the playroom and testing out the hard wood floors. If he sees something he really wants, like a toy, or Fen or Dad, he’ll take off. Still just one tooth, though Im guessing that the second bottom-front tooth is not far away.

This photo shoot was tricky, so we ended up putting him the crib for most of the photos so he wouldn’t dive head-first off the glider.

Don’t know if he’s starting to get attached to the Silkie or if it’s just something else to chew on, but he really loves this thing lately! Gary’s nephews had one and loved it, so Gary’s sister gave us one for Nathan.

9 Month Update

We had Nathan’s 9 Month Check-up last Friday. He’s doing great, right on track with his growth and development. He’s 20 lbs 9 oz and 28 inches long, which puts him right in the 50th percentile.

Now the food fun really starts because we can give him more finger foods. The pediatrician pretty much said anything but fish and peanut butter, though there are other things we’ll wait on until Nathan’s at least one. So far he’s tried matzah balls and some mushed up pieces of french fries.

Here are some pictures from his 9 month photo shoot. More can be found toward the bottom of this photo album.

Who is this bear in my way?

He’s so proud and happy to be clapping.

It’s getting harder to do these photos now that he’s moving around so much and so interested in everything around him, but I’m planning to keep doing them until he’s a year because I love the comparisons from month to month.

8 Months

Hard to believe it, but Nathan just turned 8 months old!

This is a big food milestone for me because for some reason I have become more comfortable with letting him try certain foods I was not comfortable with before. We’ve broken up Gerber puffs for him to try (though he hasn’t figured out how to pick them up himself yet), and he’s getting oatmeal. We also just started yogurt today, which surprisingly he was unphased by and didn’t even make the usual face he makes with the first taste of new food.

We thought he might be getting ready to pop his first tooth since he started chewing on things even more than usual and sucking on his lower lip, but nothing so far. He’s still pulling up all the time and loves to stand, but he’s also started tolerating more time on his tummy and he’s pushing with his feet a little and rocking, so maybe he’ll crawl afterall!

In a previous post I mentioned how he doesn’t roll, but the latest development is that Nathan is rolling over in his crib. He goes from back to tummy, and most times he wakes up now we find him on his stomach, pushing up with his hands. I’ve caught him sleeping on his tummy once, and last night I found him sleeping perpendicular at the end of the crib on his back, so I think he finally rolled from back to tummy, and back to his back again. Right now the rolling in the crib seems to be interrupting his sleep a little, but I think ultimately it will be good if he figures out how to comfortably sleep on his belly and roll in both directions.

Nathan- 8 Months Old

Nathan- 8 Months

Nathan recently started getting his baths in the big tub since he outgrew the infant tub we had. Its actually made bathing him a lot easier, and he LOVES getting a bath. Its part of our bedtime routine so he knows its coming when I start to get him undressed before bed and he gets really excited. He’ll start squealing and kicking his legs around. In the bath he usually just chews on a little crab toy we have, and he likes to put his hands under the running water. He hasn’t started splashing yet.

Bathtub Baby

The best part of Nathan getting older is how we are seeing his personality develop. He’s still a sweet, happy kid and for the most part he’s not too fussy (knocking on wood!), but now he is also expressing himself when we take something away from him that he wasn’t done with, or when he sees something he wants. And I just love seeing all the things that make him happy and excited.

Holy Cow! I’m 6 Months Old!!

Nathan in his first Halloween costume. We went to the zoo on Sunday with some friends and their babies, so Nathan got to dress up.

Nathan had his 6 month pediatrician appointment today. He was a trooper with his vaccinations and we get to start yellow and orange veggies! Now it gets really fun.
The stats:
18 lbs 4 oz (50th percentile)
25 1/2 inches long (25th percentile)
17 inch head circumference (btwn 25th & 50th percentile)

And it’s amazing how much he’s changed!
